On the edge of a pristine alpine lake, surrounded by the spectacular scenery of Mount Aspiring National Park, Lake Wanaka is the ideal destination for outdoor adventures and soothing relaxation to enjoy both summer days and the winter wonderland.

Mount Aspiring National Park is the third largest in New Zealand.  At 3,033m, Mt Aspiring is the highest peal outside Mt Cook National Park.  Below the snow line is a myriad of easily accessed walking tracks winding their way through the open valleys, native beech forests and alpine meadows.

With a local population of approximately 4500 it has a peaceful, village like atmosphere.  The numbers swell accordingly depending on the season.  In summer, holiday seekers flock to relax and enjoy the summer sun and crystal waters.  With the advent of winter it is easy to access the three ski fields close by, Treble Cone, Cardrona and the Snow Farm, as well as the fields near Queenstown just over an hours traveling, all of which attract many New Zealanders and overseas visitors to the resort.

The shores of Lake Wanaka are the location for the world-famous Rippon Vineyard, one of the first vineyards in the Southern Lakes and it definitely has one of the most beautiful settings in the world.
